Group Leader Guidelines & Reminders

Regular Stay & Dive Packages

To qualify as a Group:  All guests must arrive and depart on the same date, and dive the same schedule, including welcome tank shore dives.

We can dedicate a boat to your group with 16 divers or more

Communications:  The Group Leader serves as the point of contact (asks questions, makes requests, changes, etc., on behalf of the participants), and collects payments from the participants.

Action Checklist:

  • Safety is #1!  Group Leader please send all participants this link:  Diver Registration Form & Waiver, to submit their forms ASAP, preferably at least 14 days prior to 1st scheduled activity.  Divers under age 18 must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver.   A Medical Statement is required from Adaptive Divers and Diving Students.
  • Be sure to share a copy of our Trip Planning Document with participants prior to their arrival.
  • Please ensure all participants meet all passport, visa, and health requirements of MX and countries transited to/from MX.
  • Please read our policies and correspondence carefully.  Dive Paradise is not responsible for problems arising from failure to adhere to instructions in our emails and policies.

Changes to Your Reservation:

  • Changes to the # of guests or rooms must be requested before confirming to your travelers.  Changes are not guaranteed until confirmed by our US Reservations Office.
  • Changes/new bookings made within 30 days of arrival require separate payment at time of booking.
  • Custom Additions listed are guaranteed prices when booked and paid in advance, and commissionable.
  • Changes/Additions made after arrival are paid directly to the shop in $MXN Pesos without comps or commission.  Preview on-island pricing HERE.

Bad Weather and Unforeseen Circumstances (Mother Nature is beautiful, powerful, and unpredictable!)

  • All divers should obtain trip insurance that covers reimbursement for missed dives due to port closures and other unforeseen circumstances.
  • Dive Paradise strives to ensure that all trip arrangements will run as planned. However, we occasionally need to make changes including altering, postponing or canceling dives due to weather and other safety considerations.
  • Boarding Changes:
    • If the ocean swells make docking on the piers unsafe, we may move boarding to Marina Fonatur for everyone’s safety. In these cases we organize taxi services.  It is very important that you stay in contact with us.  Please stop by or call our Cozumel Hotel shop 011 52 (987) 872-1061, or call our cell/WhatsApp line 011 52 (987) 101-8585.
  • Port Closures:
    • If the Marine and Federal Authorities determine conditions are unsafe for tourist maritime activities, they close the ports and we are required to pause dive operations.
    • If this occurs during your visit, it is essential to stay in touch with our shop to confirm any rescheduling. The port could reopen, allowing boats to go out later in the day, or we will try to reschedule the missed dive for another day during your stay.
    • If rescheduling is not possible, we provide a credit issued back to the Travel Partner. (Guests must contact their Travel Partner for their own raincheck/refund.)

Guest Cancellations

  • Cancellations made more than 48 hours prior to any dive: a credit will be issued to the Travel Partner
  • Cancellations made 12-48 hours prior to a dive are eligible to reschedule (based on availability), or receive a 50% credit issued to the Travel Partner.
  • No-shows and late cancellations made within 12 hours prior to a dive are non-refundable.

Diving Certification Agency Safety StandardsDivers must be “current” to qualify for boat diving

  • If a diver’s last dive was within the last 12 months, a daytime warm-up shore dive is required with a buddy or a Personal Divemaster.  No solo divers allowed for shore dives.
  • If a diver’s last dive was 13 to 24 months ago, we require a Refresher course with an Instructor before any open water dive trip.
  • If a diver’s last dive was more than 25 months ago, we require a Scuba Tune-up course with an Instructor before any open water dive trip.

Additional Notes:

  • A minimum of 4 divers are required for PM 1-tank trips, twilight trips and night dives.
  • Gratuities for the dive staff are at your discretion.
  • Round trip transfers are not included with packages.  Please view the Airport Transfers and Taxi Information in the Trip Planning Document for information about getting from the airport to the hotel.

Insurance:

Due to our cancellation policies and the unexpected events that can occur, Dive Paradise STRONGLY recommends that all divers consider obtaining international medical coverage, and/or a comprehensive travel insurance policy with coverage that includes cancellation, medical, personal liability and coverage for dives canceled due to bad weather/port closures. It is each customer’s responsibility to obtain appropriate insurance for their reservation. For US and Canadian citizens, we suggest travel insurance from either The Divers Alert Network (DAN) or DiveAssure. For all other nationalities, we recommend travel insurance from DiveAssure.

Pricing updates:  Given the volatile nature of fuel prices, inflation and currency exchange rates, Dive Paradise periodically makes changes to pricing.  We make every effort to publish pricing changes with at least 60 days notice.
