World-class scuba dives on legendary coral reefs in Cozumel

This course includes a minimum of 4 open water dives over a 2-3 day period. Normal class hours are approximately 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Most students complete the program as safe, confident divers in 2-3 days.

$USD prices above are available through our USA office if booking at least 72+hrs in advance. 

Our on-island shop accepts $USD at the conversion rate posted in the shop.

PADI e-Learning

To get a head start, consider enrolling in PADI’s Open Water Diver online e-learning course.  This online preparatory course is supplemental and does not replace your in-person Dive Paradise Instruction in Cozumel, though it can speed up your on-island classroom time and get you in the water faster!

Additional Fees

Marine Park Fee:
The MX National Marine Park Authority charges a $109 MXN Pesos fee for each day of diving.  Must be paid in Cash.  Dive Paradise collects this fee on behalf of the Marine Park during your check-in upon arrival.   Rate subject to change per the National Marine Park Authority.

• +$960 MXN Pesos for PADI Certification PIC (Positive Identification Card)

You may check-in at any of our dive shop beach locations to set up your course with an instructor. Together you will determine the details of when and where training will be.

Additional Information

Minimum Age

To enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

Additional Information

You will need to bring a completed Divers Medical questionnaire & Information Form signed by a physician (not related to you) which can be downloaded HERE. If you are unable to obtain this prior to arriving, we can refer you to a local physician who can do your medical evaluation and sign the form if there are no areas of concern.

Detailed Scuba Dive Class Itinerary

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

• Knowledge Development (independent study or in a classroom)to understand basic principles of scuba diving
• Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
• Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!

You may be able to get get college credit for the Open Water Diver course.

PADI Open Water Diver Course Overview

You will learn to use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device (BCD) and a tank.

Though we cannot guarantee certification, we will work with students as long as possible (and as long as your stay in Cozumel permits!).
