Our Referral Diver Certification program is perfect for those who wish to begin their scuba certification with a dive shop at home and then complete the required Open Water training dives in the warm waters of Cozumel. This course is for those students who have already completed academic and pool training. After completing Open Water Diver certification with Dive Paradise, the newly certified diver can then spend the rest of his or her vacation diving!

2 Shore Dives & 2 Boat Dives

  • advance/online: $434 USD
  • regular/walk-in:  $7560 MX Pesos

$USD prices above are available through our USA office if booking at least 72+hrs in advance. 

Our on-island shop accepts $USD at the conversion rate posted in the shop.

Additional Fees

+ The MX National Marine Park Authority charges a $109 MXN Pesos fee for each day of diving.  Must be paid in Cash.  Dive Paradise collects this fee on behalf of the Marine Park during your check-in upon arrival.   Rate subject to change per the National Marine Park Authority.

+ $50 USD : 2 days equipment package (if needing to rent)

+ $50 USD : PADI Certification processing – PIC

+ $73 USD: Training manual (if needed)

Schedule and Duration

Schedule
• Flexible, but typically from 9:00am to 2pm

Duration
• 2 Days if confined water skills are completed (typical referral).
Allow about 3 days if you have only completed your classroom or online interactive knowledge portion and exam of the Open Water course, and need to do all confined water skills and open water check-out dives with us.

Availability
• Daily with the possible exception of Christmas Day and New Years Day.

Meeting point
• Check in at one of our beach front dive shops and they will connect you with an instructor who will then meet with you to set up specific dates and times.

Detailed Scuba Dive Class Itinerary

Dive Paradise specializes in Open Water Referral Certifications in Cozumel. Our PADI Instructors are dedicated to providing a great learning experience and certifying you as a safe and proficient Open Water Diver.

Once you have successfully completed Academic and Confined Water training, you can finish up your PADI Open Water Certification with us. You will meet with your Dive Paradise PADI instructor and review what you learned, and then make 4 open water shore dives over a 2 day period. An optional shallow boat dive (1 tank afternoon trip at 3PM) is available on graduation day to facilitate the advancement from student to diver.

Open Water Referral Certification Overview

After completing the four “check-out” dives over a two-day period, your PADI instructor will sign their referral forms to verify completion. After that you are certified and can sign up for some more amazing dives!

This course is for those students who have already completed academic and pool training. The student must bring a signed referral form from their classroom and confined water instructor. The student will make 4 open water shore dives over a 2 day period. Please note that PADI and NAUI standards do not allow this to be shortened to one day.
